Everyone is using hemp oil now. Your parents want to try it, your hairdresser recommends it, and it’s all over the news! Every person that recommends hemp oil also shares a unique benefit of this natural product. From what you’ve been hearing, it’s a miracle oil that does everything.

There are a lot of reasons to try hemp oil, but it’s important to clear up some myths about hemp oil first. Use this guide to learn about the best hemp oil benefits, what hemp oil actually is, and how it can help you live a more healthy life.

Hemp Oil Vs. CBD Oil Vs. Hemp Seed Oil

Can hemp oil improve skin health and reduce anxiety?

Not exactly. When celebrities or healthcare professionals talk about hemp oil, they may be talking about one of two products: CBD oil or hemp seed oil.

Hemp seed oil is extracted from hemp seeds. Cannabidiol (CBD) is an active ingredient found in the leaves, stalks, and flowers of hemp. Since hemp is a form of cannabis, CBD oil has recently been introduced to the healthcare market as a legal product. But you might have seen hemp seed oil on the shelves of grocery stores and beauty stores for many years – since it’s extracted from seeds, it’s always been legal.

CBD oil and hemp seed oil technically both come from the hemp plant, but are used for different reasons.

Read the label and know what you are buying before ingesting hemp oil or applying it to the skin. Neither product produces serious side effects, but you might not get the benefits you are looking for if you use the “wrong” product.

Will Hemp Oil Get You High?

Hemp only contains .03% THC, so hemp oil extracted from hemp should not get you high. CBD oil, however, may come from the marijuana plant. Marijuana may contain up to 30% THC. Manufacturers should label when CBD oil or products contain some form of THC. You shouldn’t have to worry about THC in your CBD oil, but it’s always good to check the label and read reviews. Hemp seed oil does not contain THC.

Should You Buy Hemp Oil or Hemp Seed Oil?

Here’s a quick guide to help you figure out what product is right for you.

If you are looking to boost overall health or treat conditions that affect the outside of the body, try hemp seed oil. If you are looking to bring yourself back to “normal” health and treat conditions that affect the inner workings of the body, try CBD oil.

  • Reduced inflammation
  • Pain relief
  • Glowing skin
  • Strong hair and nails
  • Anxiety and insomnia relief

Reduced inflammation

CBD oil and hemp seed oil do share some of the same benefits. Both products can help to reduce inflammation. The body’s endocannabinoid system uses inflammation as a way to fight infection and injury. Unfortunately, too much inflammation can cause joint pain, redness, and swelling. Conditions like asthma or rheumatoid arthritis, may cause chronic inflammation that wrecks havoc and causes discomfort throughout the body.

Inflammation also occurs after exercise or stress. Hemp oil in your protein powders or smoothies can help you recover post-workout.

Both hemp seed oil and CBD oil can help to regulate inflammation and reduce the symptoms of excessive inflammation. If you are affected by chronic inflammation, check out both products and see how they can help your symptoms.

Pain relief

If you’re looking to reduce inflammation and joint pain, it might be wise to choose CBD oil over hemp seed oil. CBD interacts directly with the endocannabinoid system. It has become one of the hottest ways to treat joint pain. Patients with a wide range of conditions, including MS and fibromyalgia, can benefit from CBD oil. CBD balms and salves can even be applied directly to the skin to target joints or areas of the body that feel the most pain.

People who experience pain from acne may prefer hemp seed oil to help them achieve smoother skin and calm inflammation that is present on the face.

Glowing skin

Glowing skin

Hemp seeds and hemp hearts are “superfoods.” Why? They contain a high amount of Omega-6 to Omega-3 fatty acids. This high ratio of fats can support heart health – that’s why hemp seeds are so popular in smoothie bowls!

These fats also contain gamma-linolenic acid (GLA.) GLA reduces inflammation and encourages cell regeneration. Skincare gurus love GLA for its ability to keep skin supple and moisturized.

If you have any of the following skin conditions, you should consider adding hemp seed oil to your diet or skincare routine:

  • Acne
  • Psoriasis
  • Eczema

Strong hair and nails

Cell regeneration also benefits the hair and nails. Hemp oil has always appeared in haircare and other beauty products, but it’s especially popular now that misconceptions about hemp are being cleared up and skincare experts are pushing the benefits of hemp.

Even if you just want healthy, strong fingernails, give hemp seed oil a try. Massaging hemp oil around the affected areas can help to strengthen fingernails and reduce dry skin. If you use hemp oil balms or lotions, you might even notice a difference just from applying the products to other parts of the skin.

Anxiety and Insomnia Relief

All of the benefits of hemp oil can feel like a weight lifted off of your shoulders. In reality, CBD oil can also help to reduce stress and anxiety on its own. The endocannabinoid system helps to regulate mood. (Some experts say that the body’s natural cannabinoids, rather than endorphins, cause the “runner’s high.) Studies show that CBD oil can help to reduce a patient’s anxiety levels and even treat conditions like PTSD.

Reduced anxiety, reduced joint pain, and other side effects can also treat insomnia. Additional studies show that patients using CBD oil have an easier time falling asleep at night.

These Aren’t the Only Benefits of Hemp Oil

Researchers are still discovering more benefits of CBD oil and hemp seed oil. Try these products out for yourself for a healthier and happier body, inside and out.
