Black Tuna was created by 5 Star Organic in order to provide patients with a powerful hit of THC that is beneficial for chronic pain relief. It is a British Columbian stain made by crossing Lamb’s Bread and Herojuana and is extremely popular in Canada not only for the strong narcotic effect it provides but also for its quirky marketing tactics as this was sold in sealed tuna cans. Flowers of this marijuana strain are compact, covered in trichomes and carry a strong smell. The color of Black Tuna is rich sage green with shades of darker green and also hints of purple. However, this strain does not smell like fish. In fact, the name originates from Black Tuna Gang that was well-known for the smuggling of Colombian marijuana in the 1970s in the United States. Given its potency and high THC, this strain may be too much for novice or moderate consumers. Black Tuna carries a spicy and intoxicating flavor with a slightly putrid and spicy smell. The effects of Black Tuna are experiencing a euphoric feel along with feeling happy and aroused. It aids with insomnia, pain, inflammation, spasticity, nausea, headache and cramps.

  1. Honest review of Black Tuna AAAA

Bag appeal – 10 out of 10. Popping open the jar to pull out a dense frost coated bud that somehow doesn’t leave your fingers coated in trichomes after working with the bud. The bud itself is a darker forest green with hues of purple throughout that are so dark they appear almost black in colour. The layers of frost across the bud is so heavy you have to almost chisel it away to try grind up the bud.

Smell – 8.5 out of 10. Opening the jar you’re greeted with a slightly woody sweet pine with notes of something spicy and a light skunky bottom note that really sticks out after being open for a few minutes. Nothing special stands out individually about the terp profile but mixed together it comes across very enjoyable.

Taste – 9 out of 10. First pull off the joint I got a sweet almost berry like inhale that I didn’t notice at all with the smell which was very enjoyable! There’s also a strong skunky pine that stands out very dominant.

Smoke – 9 out of 10. Very smooth smoking joint that had zero cough from start to finish with great flavours that sticks through the whole joint. The joints ash burnt very clean coming off purely gray/white mix with little to zero resin ring around the joint. Found the joint to hit heavy packing a lot more of a punch then expected.

Potency – 10 out of 10. Heavy hitting high that slowly builds up to a very calming body high giving me a almost relaxing vibration that helped melt away pain and anxiety. Definitely a great therapeutic strain that worked wonders for me!

Overall – 46.5 out of 50. Beyond impressed with this Black Tuna nice terpy bud that hits every box for what I look for in a quality flower and then some! Pain management is something that brought me towards weed and finding strains that help that significantly are always my favourite like this Black Tuna

  2. Great strain/smoke, burns clean and white. There is a nice gassy taste to it. The only thing I disagree with is the story. They named it black tuna because it smelled like tuna and we sold them in actual tuna cans where you actually needed a can opener and sold for $80 A quarter. (5 star organics) and it was to pay homage or respects to the black tuna gang. Looks like the same cut, just not loud smelling like the original. Still nicely done though, I’d buy again.

  3. Good, nice looking, easy smoking strain

  4. Quality herb… checks all the boxes… well lit

  5. YOU SHOULD TRY IT. I’ve just started smoking again after many years of being a non-smoker. I’m very prone to anxiety and depression, I was curious if marijuana would provide relief. Small doses of Black Tuna helped depression without doubt, insomnia was flat gone. this is insane.
